Tailings are the product of processing ore to recover the contained metals. After extraction from the mine, the ore is crushed and subsequently ground to a particle size that allows for the liberation of the metals from the host rock.
Although most tailings materials are very fine, regrinding may liberate significant quantities of contained metal that can be recovered using modern technologies. However, for a standalone tailings reprocessing project, the cost of regrinding can easily make the process uneconomic so careful economic analysis is critical.
【Process Flow】 Iron tailings: the iron tailings discharge from iron ore plant is in large amount, fine size and different types, and complex property, so Xinhai use the process of magnetic separation, flotation, acid leaching and flocculation to recover iron. Gold tailings: Xinhai usually use all-slime cyanide process and carbon-in-pulp process to recover the gold from gold tailings.
Apr 02, 2014· This is the first of two blogs examining the reprocessing of tailings dams. Millions of tonnes of sulphide tailings are produced each year from base metal and gold flotation operations. Of these tailings a substantial amount is stored in tailings dams of which an example is shown in Figure 1.
historic gold tailings dams in the Witwatersrand area of South Africa is being investigated. The objective is to recover uranium and residual gold from the tailings, as well as to oxidize the sulphides to eliminate long term environmental liabilities associated with acid mine drainage. The tailings from the re-processing plant will be re-
Dec 18, 2017· Thanks to the progress in technology, the reduction of ore grades, and a more environmentally friendly vision, companies are starting to care more about mining waste management by reprocessing tailings to increase their value. Let's take a look at some reprocessing …

rehabilitation of such tailings dams. One such strategy is to undertake feasibility study of reprocessing gold tailings dams and extract gold, while converting the residue to a construction material or during gold reprocessing, the tailings are to be relocated to a more suitable dumping site.
Tailings originating from the gravity concentration of a gold ore containing about 14 g/t Au have been treated by various beneficiation methods. These tailings have been screened on the 147 and 74 micron sieves and the two coarsest fractions have been separated on shaking tables with unsatisfactory results, but the concentrates have been examined in polished sections for mineragraphic analysis.

The methods commonly employed for disposal of these wastes in each of the industry segments (that is, coal mining and metal-ore and non-metal mineral mining) are described below. Mining Coal Tailings Disposal As has been pointed out earlier in this section, immense quantities of wastes are produced by coal mining activities.
In the Guianas, the most popular form of small-scale gold mining is referred to as "land dredging", a combination of hydraulicking and suction dredging. This method requires application of large volumes of water for both mining and mineral processing; in most cases, there are no containment structures for the waste tailings generated.

of the general public for the gold mining industry, due to several highly . publicized cyanide spills in recent years (breaches of tailings dams, accidents involving trucks carrying cyanide to gold plants, etc.). The cost of recovering and recycling cyanide from tailings will generally . be lower than the cost of purchasing new cyanide.
