Mining Technology is an Associate in Applied Science Degree for students who plan to work in an underground or surface coal mine. Students considering Mining Technology should be capable of working underground in a production environment in proximity to heavy equipment.
One way the Mine Safety and Training completes this is to conduct health and safety training programs throughout the year for mining employees. The Miners' Examining Board meets monthly to administer tests for the First Class, and Shaft and Slope Worker papers. Scheduled test dates are set monthly for the Benton and Springfield offices.
